Orangeburg coil

Title: Orangeburg coil

The "Orangeburg coil" is a 3-cent design on single-line watermarked paper, perforated with gauge 12 vertically. It was produced for only a short time before the switch to 8.5 perforations, and all of those went to the Bell Pharmaceutical Company of Orangeburg NY, who used them on samples.

As philatelists were not aware of these stamps at the time, nearly all were discarded, and very few survive.
