Orangeburg coil

Title: Orangeburg coil

The "Orangeburg coil" is a 3-cent design on single-line watermarked paper, perforated with gauge 12 vertically. It was produced for only a short time before the switch to 8.5 perforations, and all of those went to the Bell Pharmaceutical Company of Orangeburg NY, who used them on samples. <p> As philatelists were not aware of these stamps at the time, nearly all were discarded, and very few survive.
